It's been a long time...

...since I've posted anything. A long long time. But it can be taken that things have been going good, or I've been too tired to sit and type. I've had a few of those days lately. And it could take awhile for me to get this all finished since I'm rarely allowed to sit for any length of time either because Gabby's bugging me or I get distracted with other things like housework and such.

I've finally started reading again. When I had Talina, I didn't have time to do much reading until she could read and I had more time. From time to time, I'd read; mostly Stephen King books since I was in the club to get his books. Of course, they took quite awhile for me to read. When I started working, I found that I didn't have enough time to do any quality reading. And now that Gabby other things to play with that don't always require my attention, I've found myself with time to read again. Over the last month, I've read 2 books, both of which I absolutely loved. The first one is "Good in Bed" by Jennifer Weiner and the other is "The other Boleyn girl" bu Phillipa Gregory. This last book really caught my interest and when I was finished with it, I searched the internet for more information on Mary and Anne Boleyn, King Henry VIII along with his other wives and a few other people I came across in the book. There's been a movie made from the book but I've yet to locate it. The first book I mentioned was one of those that I could not put down. And after I was finished with it, I went to the author's website here. I found that she'd written a few other books and that there would be a sequel to the one I'd just read. It came out on April 8th, so it's still quite new.

A couple of weeks ago, I got caught up in a bunch of links. I thought I would share some with you.

  • The Official U.S. Time - This site is great if you have clocks around your house that all tell different times, and a great way to know exactly what time it is.
  • Time Ticker - Not that everyone needs one of these but it's awfully nice to have when you have friends outside of the U.S.

  • Truth or Fiction - email reality check. You know how you sometimes get emails and you wonder whether or not they're the truthful kind or not? Well, wonder no more! You can find out if it's truth or fiction on this website.

  • Top Websites--Most Visited Websites--Website Ranking - Ever wondered how popular a website is? This site ranks the top million websites (with Live Journal coming in at 905)

  •  Random website dot com - I absolutely love this site. I sat for hours clicking "randomlink"; it was most addicting. And you find all kinds of sites, sort of like "Stumble-Upon".
When I was finding all these links, I kept thinking that I would post them because some of them are fun, some useful, some not. But I have one more for you, especially if you like reading, music or movies. The name of the site is Swaptree. It's a fairly new site and although it seems similar to other websites that sell books (not Amazon.com or those, but personal "stores" for people to sell their wares on), nothing is sold here. Everything is for trade. Check it out. I'm a member and have already traded a book I have for a book I wanted. The only thing you pay for is postage.

One of my LJ friends, [info]tawneelynne, decided that she would take a "road trip" for various reasons. Her first stop on her journey was my place of residence. We've known each other online for a couple of years now, and it's the first time I've met an LJ'er in real life. She came in on Wednesday night and left very early Saturday morning; continuing east on her journey. While she was here, she took some pictures of Gabby and myself which she posted on her Flickr account. Of course, more were taken of Gabby than me, but that's okay with me. Although Tawnee said otherwise, I feel that I'm not good picture-taking material. She did get a couple of good ones, though. And here they are: (These were all taken by Tawnee and I've used her captions.)

Play doh set

You have to do it over and over again.

On the first day Tawnee was here, Gabby was bored and kept being a bit bothersome. So, she had me go out and buy her a Playdoh set, which she absolutely loves! The first day she played with it, she played for 5 hours.

I showed Tawnee some of the jewelry I made and she took this necklace and photographed it for me. It sure made it look great!

Necklace with unakite and glass pearls

I quit smoking again and I'm having a harder time at it than before, but I'm carrying on. Mike also quit and so did Talina. Let's hope I'm not the one who starts first.  *grin*

And, in case I don't post again real soon, let me say "Happy Mother's Day" to all mothers on my flist.

Great pics, and I LOVE the necklace! I can't get over how much Talina looks like you!

Jennifer Weiner rocks - I've read a few of her books, and I'm waiting for the Good In Bed sequel to be available in paperback so I can read it too!

It IS available...it only comes out in paperback!!! I can't wait to get it either.

Did you actually mean Talina or Gabby? Yes, Talina definitely looks like me--we were mistaken as sisters when she was in elementary school. But the pics are of Gabby, so I'm a bit confused as to which of those two you meant...

:-)

Argh! I saw it in hardback at the airport and I asked the guy if it was available in paperback and he said no! I'll have to pick it up now that I know!

I did mean Talina :) Since I know her in real life (though I haven't talked to her for a loooooong time, sadly) I can definitely see in these pics how much she looks like you! Sorry to have been confusing, I was just surprised how much she is the spitting image of you!

http://www.amazon.com/Certain-Girls-Novel-Jennifer-Weiner/dp/0743294254/ref=pd_nr_b_43?ie=UTF8&s=books

It is in hardback, but all the others I've seen have only been paperback. Here's a link to Amazon, where they have 41 available, new and used--

(It's also Borders.com, perhaps they have one in the stores?)

Good luck!

Happy Mother's Day to you, too. Great pictures. My favorite Gabby one is the first one - what a great pose and profile! Nice to see you smiling. I always think of you as looking as you do in the picture at MySpace, since I see it fairly often.

That MySpace photo is planted everywhere that needs one and I hate it because it's old (kind of like me *giggle*)

I knew I was getting my picture taken and I was just trying not to make a funny face!

Thanks!

Heck, I could play with playdoh for five hours too! So relaxing. =D

Great pics. That necklace is really nice.

Thank you! I'd like to finish up by making a bracelet and earrings to go with it.

I'm not that creative so I don't think playdoh would be my style. But I have fun playing with it with Gabby.

:-)

I so love Phillipa Gregory!! She's one of my all time favourite authors. And the reason you havent been able to find the movie of "The Other Boleyn Girl" is because it hasnt been released yet. It stars Natalie Portman as Anne, and Scarlett Johansson as her sister Mary. Eric Bana as Henry...The sequel is called "The Boleyn Inheritance" and is just awesome. "The Virgin's Lover" is about Elizabeth and rocked my socks, I'm reading "Earthly Joys", next on my list is "Virgin Earth" I didnt know about "A respectable Trade" or "The Constant Princess" though, I may have to pick those up...I liked the Wideacre trilogy, But I think "The Queen's Fool" is just about my favourite because of the history and personal story in it. It's pretty tragic in parts, but I really enjoy everything I've read of by her. I think you'll really enjoy her! I know I just love her works!
I really liked the pictures too, it is so clear where both Talina and Gabby get their looks, and that sparkle in their eyes, it's straight from you, no doubts about that!

Aw, gee, thanks! *blush*

I've been considering getting a couple of more books by Phillipa Gregory. One of them is "The Queen's Fool", and I think I saw a couple of others at Swaptree. With your awesome review, I think I'll be reading more of her than I anticipated. Yay, more stuff to read!
