I am a mother of 2 daughters. My first child I gave up for adoption, the story of which can be read here. My second daughter, dagrrl I raised as mostly a single parent. That story is here. Twenty-two years after relinquishing my first daughter, we found each other. You can read about that here.
I'm a grandmother of 5, but a full-time grandmother to my granddaughter Gabby. I love writing about her and showing off her photos.
I was born and raised in the Mile High City of Denver. I moved around and lived in the Northwest (WA, OR, and ID) for approxiamtely 10 years before I came back to Denver to stay. Some of the neatest things to see are here, and I'm glad I live here.
I started journaling back in 1977 when I was in Job Corps at the Tongue Point Center, in Astoria, OR. I spent a year there, where I received, among a GED and some good skills, knowledge of how to work for the railroad. With a lot of people from the age of 18 to 23, there was constantly drama, and one time there was drama I was involved in. Not being close to family physically nor emotionally, I started writing. Upon graduating, I got a job in Wishram, WA but lived in The Dalles, OR. Three months later, I resigned. The Wishram station was so small that I was rarely called up and was finding it hard to survive. I moved to Portland, OR where I promptly found a job and a home. Denver and Portland are tied for first on my two most favorite places to live.
I've continued to write as a method of therapy. As a loner, I would tend to shy away from telling people about the things that were going on in my life. And I would write, just to get things figured out. It's always made me feel better to write. Live Journal is a great place for me to write about anything I want. I'm still quite the loner with only a couple of IRL best friends. I've learned to live that way most of my life, and I doubt that will change. I have made several awesome friends here on Live Journal though.
Friending, should you like to, is as easy as clicking a button.
I will read about politics, but will not comment or debate.
I tend to write a lot about Gabby (and brag on her a little--a grandmother's right *grin*)
I love a good laugh! Or even to be able to smile at something.
I have my medical moments as well in my posts, suffering from chronic major depression, rheumatoid arthritis, and severe chronic back pain. The arthritis and the back pain are being dealt with on a monthly basis, whereas my depression is pretty much under control. And if I'm having a bout with depression, it's usually caused by the pain and the meds I take for it.
